PhD Advanced Mass, Chocolate Fudge Brownie – 5400 Gramm

As a hard gainer I use mass gainers just to maintain weight for Greco Roman wrestling and now to gain weight for rugby. I have previously used boditronics mass attack, kinetica oat gain and optimum nutrition's serious mass, all of them for over 4 months each. They all helped me gain weight with expanding density training. My greatest size increase was with Optimum Nutrition serious mass but it came with sacrifices, going to the toilet over five times a day, feeling gassier than Jupiter and having to sleep sitting up. On this PhD advanced mass I've gained 2kg in three months with body fat percentage only going up 0.2% which is slower than serious mass but it is gentle on the stomach, I have no gas attacks, less frequent trips to the loo and don't have to go to sleep sitting up if I take it right before bed. This mixes terribly, but It tastes great so I will accept the trade off of having 5 seconds of disgust while downing the shake but having a very happy stomach afterwards. I feel good enough to have a strong coffee straight after taking this, that's how gentle on the stomach it is. It gets the job done

This pack contains 6 bars of energy chews which are orange flavoured. Firstly I would not describe them as chews as the texture is like eating floppy raw jelly cubes. That being said, the bars taste very delicious if not a little too sweet and have a very orange taste to them. Each pack contains 2 strips of the chews so I usually eat one strip before my workout to increase my energy levels and then after my workout I eat the second half so that I don't feel to tired after my workout. Once you get used used to the consistency and the sweetness the chews actually taste quite nice and make a difference from eating protein/energy bars before my workout. I definitely feel like I have a lot more energy during my workouts and I'm not so tired after my workouts. I would purchase these again in the future just to break the monotony of eating energy/protein bars or shakes.

I used these in training and with beta fuel drinks for a 12 hour time trial. They taste pretty good, but they are so easy to eat, no choking down like some gels. Enough flavour to be "nice" but not so much that they are acidic and cause issues (for me). They are more of a firm jelly than a chew, easier to eat than say a Blok, with no residue or bits stuck in teeth like a gummie. In a jam you can bit and swallow but I took the time to enjoy mine. The nice thing is you can eat half, put the remainder in your pocket and then finish it later. For me these work really well as part of an 80g/carb per hour nutrition strategy, no stomach issues for me but do test and build up to higher levels of intake. If it was winter you could do these and as much water as you needed, for long or more intense stuff they can be used a good way to just fill in gaps in carb intake. I plan to use these again for competition, and they are worth the money if you get at a sensible price.
